Capstone Course - Engineering Design and Development

The knowledge and skills students acquire throughout PLTW Engineering come together in EDD as they identify an issue and then research, design, and test a solution, ultimately presenting their solution to a panel of engineers. Students apply the professional skills they have developed to document a design process to standards, completing EDD ready to take on any post-secondary program or career.

Students in EDD will be required to:

  • Work Steadily on a variety of projects chosen by class and group

  • Have strong attendance records (the group will be hurt by lack of attendance)

  • Be self motivated and able to stay on task for long periods of time

  • Enjoy problem solving by applying new and previous knowledge

  • Willing to work with a variety of students, community members, and others for a common goal

  • Work in an organized way and meet deadlines without constant reminders

  • Be respectful of others' ideas

  • Work in an ethical way using personal and others' intellectual property
